With St John’s Church behind you, cross the busy road with care and walk past the green telephone box into Fangdale Beck. Bear left and follow the farm road to Malkin Bower. Take the bridleway opposite the farm buildings which goes steeply uphill, passing a disused quarry, to reach a gate about half a mile from Malkin Bower.

Turn left after the gate and follow the path with the wood on your left
for approximately a third of a mile till you reach a gate in a wall. *Turn right with the wall on your left to a sandy track. Keep on this track in the same direction.

Follow this sandy track until you reach a junction. Do not continue on the track. Immediately after a black farm gate and a sheep pen go straight on*, along a grassy track to a gate. Go through the gate.

Continue along this track with the Ladhill valley on your right,
passing large stones. Continue until you reach a footpath *to your
right, heading downhill.

Follow this path to a gate and then bear right to the footbridge and cross.
Head up hill, following the path indicators through three fields. Follow the path indicator through the wall * and turn left along the wall to the
Sportsman’s Hall track. Turn right to Moorgate where the track
meets the Hawnby- Osmotherley road.

Head SW to the other side of the cattle grid across the road and walk on the path to the western side of Hawnby Hill* for a mile and a half,
You will pass Hill End House on your right.
Continue straight ahead till you reach the minor road. Turn right and walk
down the road to the junction. Turn left to reach All Saints, Hawnby.
