​Head S (with the church gate behind you, turn left) out of the village and after you pass the stone circular village sign on your right, take the gate to the bridleway on the left going SE across Hill Gill.

When you reach the end of the path at the far side of the gill go through a small gate. Cross 3 fields to a gate at the top of Callister Wood. Go left downhill through the wood to a footbridge and across a short field to a stile. Cross over the track to the small gate into the conservation area and cross the stepping stones. Please note- this is where the loop in the Trail crosses itself and there are 2 waymarkers pointing to the left and on a gate to the right, Take the track to the right.

Here go slightly right through a gate *and uphill beside Spring Wood to turn right on the road into Scawton.
St Mary’s church is on the left.
